MONTGOMERY - Governor Kay Ivey announced Thursday that the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs will hold a series of six workshops across the state next week. The sessions are designed to help interested parties learn more about the new Alabama Rural Health Transformation Program.
The workshops will take place in various locations to make them accessible to communities throughout the state. The program aims to address healthcare challenges in rural areas, which often face limited access to medical services and financial strain on local hospitals.
During the workshops, officials will explain how the program works, who is eligible to participate, and what steps communities need to take to apply for funding or support. The initiative is part of a broader effort to improve healthcare delivery in underserved parts of Alabama.
Governor Ivey emphasized the importance of strengthening rural healthcare infrastructure. She noted that these workshops provide a direct opportunity for local leaders, healthcare providers, and residents to get involved and understand the resources available to them.
The Alabama Rural Health Transformation Program is expected to offer grants and technical assistance to help rural hospitals and clinics adapt to changing needs. The workshops will also cover how the program can help with telemedicine, workforce training, and facility upgrades.
Interested parties are encouraged to attend the session closest to them. The schedule includes stops in several cities across the state, with specific times and locations available through local ADECA offices.
